Record Breaking Weather

London's taste of spring-like weather has resulted in a new temperature record for the city.

At 7am on Tuesday, Environment Canada registered a temperature of 7.9 C at the London International Airport, making it the warmest February 3 on record in London.

The old record, 7.8 C, was set in 1991.

At 1pm, the the temperature reached 14.4 C.

“Normally for the highs around this time of year should be -1, well oh my gosh they are leaps and bounds above that normal high,” says David Phillips, climatologist with Environment Canada. “These are temperatures that you would expect on average on April 15.”

Phillips says people shouldn’t put their winter coats away yet.

“A little bit of a rude awakening, we see tomorrow we could be back with temperatures closer to what we’d expect for this time of the year and we could see some of the white stuff,” says Phillips.
