SIU Investigate After Man Injured During Arrest

The province's police watch dog is investigating after a man was injured during an arrest at a Woodstock hotel.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says on Saturday around 2:30am, officers with the Woodstock Police Service approached a 26-year-old man who was in the parking lot of the Quality Hotel and Suites at 580 Bruin Blvd., in a vehicle of interest.

When officers attempted to arrest the man, he suffered an injury to his hand.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
