Home Destroyed By Fire

A family visiting Quebec has had their Lambeth area home reduced to rubble.

London firefighters were called to a home at 3557 Colonel Talbot Rd. around 3am Tuesday.

"When they arrived they found a single family home that was fully involved with fire," says Fire Inspector Jack Burt.

It took crews roughly four hours to put out the blaze. The home was destroyed while an attached garage was saved. No one was inside the house at the time of the fire. The family, which was out of the province, has been notified and is expected to arrive back in London on Tuesday afternoon.

Damage is estimated at $750,000.

"We have asked for assistance from the office of the fire marshal. Due to the fire being a large loss fire, anything over $500,000 is reportable to the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office," says Burt.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
