UPDATE: Diner Damaged By Fire

Damage is estimated at $70,000 after a fire in a Richmond St. diner.

Fire crews were called to the Campus Hi-Fi restaurant around 11pm on Friday. A tenant of an apartment on the second floor reported smoke coming from the floor vents. Firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from the building's roof vents and at the rear of the building. They forced their way in through the back doors and were greeted by heavy smoke and high heat

Firefighters put out the flames and ventilated the building. They were on the scene for about two hours.

No injuries were reported, but the tenant who reported the fire had to be relocated for the night.

Police closed Richmond St. between Piccadilly St. and Oxford St. E while firefighters were at the scene.
