Cop Struck In Hit And Run

A Middlesex OPP officer is okay after a very close call with an alleged drunk driver in Glencoe.

Police say around 1:30 Sunday morning, an officer was parked on Main St. and was dealing with a person who was in the backseat of the cruiser. The officer was standing by the driver's side rear door when an approaching car struck the cruiser. The officer jumped in an attempt to avoid being hit, but was struck on the arm by the car's passenger side mirror.

The officer did not require medical attention.

Police say the driver of the car didn't stop, instead heading south of McKellar St. The car was stopped by police in a parking lot, and officers determined the driver had been drinking.

Jenny Hopper, 41, of Newbury is charged with impaired driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. She was released from custody with a court date of May 3.
