SIU Probing Arrest Of Robbery Suspect

The Special Investigations Unit is looking into allegations a St. Thomas jewellery store robbery suspect was hurt during his arrest.

The province's police watchdog was called in following the February 2 arrest of a 35-year-old man at a home in London.

St.Thomas police arrested the man in connection with a violent robbery at B&L Jewellers on First Ave on February 1. Two women where assulted during the robbery.

Three SIU investigators have been assigned to probe the circumstances of the incident.

The SIU is called into investigate whenever a person is injured or killed during an interaction with police.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
