Man Killed In Hwy. 401 Crash

One person is dead following a serious two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401 in Blandford-Blenheim Township.

Oxford OPP say a car was heading west on the highway, west of Township Rd. 8 just before 12pm Wednesday when it hit the back of an SUV. The car then spun out of control, veering off the road and into the ditch. The SUV slammed into the centre median.

The male driver of the car was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The female driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The name and age of the deceased will not be released until family are notified.

All westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 were closed at Cedar Creek Rd. for several hours following the crash. They have since been re-opened.

Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to call Oxford OPP.
