Police Cruiser Crashes Into Vehicle, Porch

Two people were injured after a police cruiser collided with another vehicle, then a porch in Lucan.

Middlesex OPP say the marked cruiser was heading north  in the southbound lane on Main St. just before 1pm Monday when a northbound Jeep, turned left into the cruiser's path. The cruiser crash into the Jeep, then veered off the road, hitting the porch of a home on Main St.

The driver of the Jeep, a 53-year-old North Middlesex woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She has since been released. The police officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police say the officer was travelling the wrong direction in the southbound lane in order to pass northbound traffic. Emergency lights were not activated at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
