Vacant Duplex Fire Causes $25K In Damages

Fire officials are investigating after a blaze broke out in a vacant duplex unit in London.

The London Fire Department says on Thursday just before noon, firefighters responded to the blaze on Egerton St. between Dundas St. and Florence St.  Fire crews were at the scene for around an hour.

The duplex unit had been unoccupied for at least two months, according to fire officials. The tenant of the other unit in the duplex was home at the time of the fire, but there was no damage to that apartment.

No one was injured during the fire.

Damage is estimated at $25,000 and the cause is still under investigation.

A fire investigator has attended the scene.
