Police put out a release around 3:30pm Monday that Jory King had been missing since 12:30pm and his family were concerned for his well-being.
Roughly two hours later, King was located safe.
Police say King was located after a citizen saw the missing person's report on a local media outlet's Facebook page and call police.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
