Toldo Foundation Donates Half A Million To Seminary

A Windsor-based philanthropic organization is committing $500,000 to the restoration and modernization of St.Peter's Seminary in London.

The seminary is undergoing a $35-million project to repair the building's envelope, upgrade its operating systems and renovate residences and classrooms. Construction will start this fall and is expected to take three years.

Anthony G.Toldo, a trustee of the Toldo Foundation, calls it an investment in the future of the Catholic Church.

"This gift to St.Peter's Seminary goes beyond bricks and mortar," he says. "The plan for St.Peter's is bold, visionary and deserves our support."

In return, the seminary will name a wing "Toldo Hall".

The gift is part of a soon-to-be-announced capital campaign to pay for repairs. It's hoped it will raise $6.5-million.

St.Peter's Seminary was founded in 1912 and trains future priests, deacons, lay ministers and parish personnel in the Diocese of London and more than 15 others across Canada.
