Child And Mother Struck By Vehicle

A Thames Centre man has been charged after a mother was struck by a vehicle while pushing her child in a stroller.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Wednesday around 11:12am, officers responded after the woman and infant were struck on Dorchester Rd. in Thames Centre. Police say a black Volkswagen car was backing out of a driveway when it struck the woman and the child's stroller, knocking them onto the road.

The mother and 1-year-old were taken to hospital with minor injuries and were later released.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Thames Centre, has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
