Vandals Strike Tavistock Public School

Paint was splashed on the floor, paper was set on fire, and laptops were damaged after vandals broke into Tavistock Public School.

School employees discovered the destruction at the elementary school on Maria St. around 7:45am on Tuesday and called Oxford OPP.

Police believe the vandal or vandals broke into the school by smashing a window. They then poured paint on a classroom floor, set fire to a piece of paper, damaged two laptops, and destroyed a portable radio.

The school's security company was called to the building after alarms starting going off around 10pm the night before but found nothing suspicious.

Damage is estimated between $2,500 and $4,000.

Police are asking residents to be vigilant in spotting suspicious people or vehicles in their neighbourhoods so police can make it to the area while suspects are still there.
