Black Bear Killed In Crash

A small bear is dead after being hit by a vehicle west of Poplar Hill.

Middlesex OPP say an SUV was heading west on Egremont Dr. when it struck a black bear on the roadway around 12:15am on Friday. The crash caused the air bags to deploy and left the vehicle with substantial front end damage.

The driver, a Strathroy-Caradoc woman, was not injured. The bear died as a result of the collision.

The crash comes a day after a Kilworth resident reported seeing a black bear in the area.

Police are reminding residents to report bear sightings to the Ministry of Natural Resources bear hotline at 1-866-514-2327.
