Man Charged For Repeated 9-1-1 Calls

A 43-year-old St. Thomas man is facing charges for allegedly calling 9-1-1 85 times over five days.

St. Thomas police say the repeated calls began on Saturday and continued until Wednesday. During each of the dozens of calls to the emergency line, a man would either hang up, breathe heavily or laugh at the police operator.

Allan Wolfe of St. Thomas is charged with mischief and obstructing police.

Police are reminding the public that 9-1-1 is for emergencies only. They say calling the number for any other reason could have dire consequences as someone with a real emergency may be prevented from getting through to an operator.
