Body Of Teen Swimmer Recovered In Port Stanley

After three days of searching, police have located the body of a missing teenage swimmer at the main beach in Port Stanley.

The Ontario Provincial Police say 18-year-old William Johnston of London was recovered by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit on Sunday around 11:30am.

Police were called to  the area at the end of William St. on Thursday after Johnston and another swimmer were reported to be in distress. A 19-year-old woman was able to make it to shore with assistance from life guards. However, Johnston failed to return from the extremely rough waters.

A red beach warning flag was posted at the time, which indicates dangerous swimming conditions.
