Trucks Taken Off Road During Safety Blitz

St. Thomas police pulled eight commercial vehicles off the road last week during a vehicle inspection blitz.

Officers and Ministry of Transportation officials set-up a temporary commercial inspection station within the city last Thursday.

In total, 19 vehicles were inspected, with eight taken off the road after being declared unsafe for travel.

A set of plates were removed from a truck, six tickets were issued, and a dozen warnings were given.

Police say inspectors discovered a wide range of issues including cracked suspensions, flat tires, overweight vehicles, inoperative brakes, and loose steering components.
