What's Open/Closed On Civic Holiday Monday

Another long weekend is upon us but not everyone gets all three days off.

The Civic Holiday, celebrated each year on the first Monday in August, is not a statutory holiday however that doesn't mean it will be business as usual.

Here is a list of what's open and closed in London on the Civic Holiday:

CLOSED:

  • Government offices (municipal, provincial, and federal)
  • Canada Post (no mail delivery)
  • Banks
  • No garbage and recycling collection
OPEN:
  • White Oaks Mall (9:30am-6pm), Masonville Place (10am-5pm), and Westmount Shopping Centre (9:30am-5:30pm)
  • Select LCBO outlets
  • Most Beer Stores - 11am - 6pm
  • Labatt Retail Store on Richmond St.
  • Drug stores
  • Grocery stores
  • Costco Wholesale
  • Central Public Library (all other branches closed)
  • Fanshawe Pioneer Village
  • Fanshawe Conservation Area (for campsite availability call 1-866-668-2267)
  • City spray pads and wading pools
  • Movie theatres
  • London Ribfest in Victoria Park
The LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule (Fanshawe Getaway route will be in service)

Normal service returns on Tuesday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
