SIU Investigating Port Stanley Incident

An investigation by Ontario's civilian police watchdog has been launched in Elgin County.

Elgin OPP say the Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a man was injured during contact with police early Friday morning.

Around 1am, officers responded to an ambulance assistance call in Port Stanley. According to police, a man became "uncooperative" with EMS personnel and police.

He was arrested, but had to be taken to hospital for what police are calling an "upper body injury."

The SIU is investigating, as it does whenever a civilian is killed or injured during interactions with police officers.
