Majors Lead Playoff Series 3-0

The London Majors lead their best-of-seven quarter-finals 3-0 after an 8-5 victory over the Guelph Royals Sunday afternoon.

Byron Reichstein had three of the Majors' nine hits and drove in three runs while scoring once. Cleveland Brownlee had two RBIs, Carloa Arteaga drove in a run and scored once, and Keith Kandel and Humberto Ruiz each had a hit and two runs.

Owen Boon went five innings for the win, giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking two. Ben Runyon picked up the last seven outs for the save, giving up two runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Matt Schmidt and Keegan Marsden each had two run home runs for the Royals. Marsden added an RBI single. Chandler McLaren singled four times and scored once, and Aaron Loder picked up a pair of hits.

London needs just one more win to move on to the semifinal as they vie for the Dominico Trophy. Game 4 of the series is in Guelph Tuesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
