UPDATE: Murder Charge Laid Following Death In St. Thomas

One man has been charged and police are looking for another following the death of a 20-year-old man in St. Thomas.

Police were called to an apartment at 337 Talbot St. around 12:45am Thursday to assist EMS personnel who had responded to a medical emergency.

William “Billy” Lamers, 20, of St. Thomas was taken to St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital where he later died. An autopsy conducted on Thursday has confirmed that Lamers died as a result of sharp force trauma.

Police have since arrested and charged 23-year-old Corey Jolliffe of St. Thomas with first degree murder. Joliffe has been remanded into custody and will appear by video in St. Thomas court on August 15.

Police are still looking for 28-year-old Sonny Daniel Cloutier of St. Thomas, who is also wanted in connection to Lamers' murder. Police have provided a photo of the outstanding suspect (pictured above).

Anyone with information regarding Cloutier's whereabouts is asked to call St. Thomas police at 519-631-1364 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). If spotted, police say Cloutier should not be approached.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
