Police Probe Suspicious Fires

London police are investigating after a pair of suspicious fires that happened less than an hour apart in the east end.

Fire crews were called to a vacant house at 2081 Trafalgar St., east of Clarke Rd. around 11:10pm Thursday. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

A firefighter needed stitches after cutting his hand while battling the blaze. Fortunately, no one else was injured.

Damage is estimated at $175,000.

Fire crews were called to a second fire a short distance away around 12:05am Friday. A vehicle on Martinet Ave. was on fire with flames spreading to a nearby home. The blaze was quickly contained and no one was hurt.

Damage is pegged at $10,000.

The London police Arson Unit is investigating but has not said whether the two fires are related.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
