London Airport Smashes Monthly Passenger Record

The London International Airport saw a record number of passengers flying into and out of the city in August.

Airport officials say 54,282 passengers chose to use their terminal last month, smashing the previous record of 51,996 passengers set in August 2009.

“Continued improvements at London International are making it easier for passengers to fly into and out of London,” says Mike Seabrook, airport president and CEO. ‘With the southern destination season approaching, we are on track to break the 500,000 yearly passenger benchmark.”

The airport has been reporting a steady increase in the number of passengers since April.

August saw a 14% rise over last year, and represents 16% of this year’s passengers to date - the highest of any month this year.
