London Woman Wins $1M Lotto Jackpot

London's most recent millionaire intends to help university students further their education.

Maria Stuhlemmer won the $1-million MaxMillions prize in the September 2 Lotto Max draw. Stuhlemmer held the ticket for a week after the draw before realizing she'd won.

"I went to the store to check my ticket,” says Stuhlemmer. “The staff at the store were so excited about my win and gathered around to congratulate me. Customers at the store were also excited.”

While Stuhlemmer splurged on a limousine to take her home from the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, she has bigger plans for a chunk of her windfall.

"We may also turn a portion of this win into a university scholarship to help young students recognize their full potential. I believe in the value of education and investing in the leaders and doctors of tomorrow,” says Stuhlemmer.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Richmond St. in London.
