Five Taken To Hospital After Serious Crash

Five people, including three children, have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash southwest of London.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Tuesday around 4:46pm, a black BMW car heading west on Littlewood Dr. in Southwold, collided with a black GMC pickup truck that was traveling north on Carriage Rd.

Police say Littlewood Dr. is governed by stop signs.

The driver of the BMW, a 32-year-old Central Elgin woman,  was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries after being extricated from the vehicle. She is in critical condition. A man and three children, who were passengers in the BMW, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They have been treated and released from hospital.

The female driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Carriage Rd. was closed from Jones Dr. to Littlechurch Dr., and Littlewood Dr. was closed from Bells Rd. to Bodkin Rd. while police conducted an investigation. All roads have since been reopened.
