Victim Identified In Fatal Train-Truck Crash

Oxford OPP have released the name of a 37-year-old Zorra Township man killed when a train and pick-up truck collided west of Thamesford.

Slawomir Kaczmarek died when the pick-up truck he was driving was hit by a Canadian Pacific train on the tracks on the 13th Line between Road 68 and Road 74 around 2am on Monday.

Police say the pick-up was stopped on the tracks at the time. It ended up in the south ditch after being pushed approximately 100 yards by the train.

Kaczmarek was pronounced dead at the scene.

The four CP Rail employees on board the train were not hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
