Charge Laid In Hwy. 401 Crash

The driver of a tractor-trailer that collided with two vehicles before overturning, forcing the closure of a section of Hwy. 401 near Woodstock has been charged with careless driving.

The tractor-trailer was in the westbound lanes of the highway between Sweaburg Rd. and Dodge Line went it crashed into a car and a minivan around 4am on Thursday. Oxford OPP say the force of the collision caused the transport to flip onto its side, spilling 450 litres of diesel fuel onto the road.

The drivers of the three vehicles were taken to hospital. The van driver suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the other two drivers had minor injures.

The crash closed the westbound lanes for more than nine hours, wreaking havoc on the morning commute as motorists were detoured through Woodstock. The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Transportation were called in to assist with the clean-up.

A 49-year-old London man is charged with careless driving.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
