UPDATE: Missing Vehicle And Man Pulled From Grand Bend Canal

Lambton OPP say foul play is not suspected following the recovery of a pick-up truck and a man's body from the boating canal at Grand Bend.

Police say their investigation of a person reported missing from a Grand Bend residence in the early morning hours Tuesday, led them to search the canal in the area around Government Rd.

It was believed the person had left in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up.

Constable Travis Parsons says just after 4:30pm Tuesday, police saw what appeared to be a portion of the vehicle in the canal and a specialized unit was called in from Orillia.

"The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Rescue Unit were requested and did attend on today's date," says Parsons.  "Divers entered the water and as a result were able to locate the vehicle and also confirm that there was a body in the vehicle."

A 75-year-old man from Grand Bend was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
