Police Release ID After Body Of Missing Canoeist Located

Police have identified Simcoe man whose body was pulled from Westminster Ponds after his canoe tipped, sending him into the water.

The London Police Service says 19-year-old Adam Nigh was with two friends on the water when the canoe they were in overturned around 3am on Sunday. The two other people, a man and a woman, were able to make it back to shore. Police have said all three were not wearing life jackets at the time.

Police say Nigh’s body was recovered with the help of an OPP dive team at around 1:55pm on Monday.

Police say an autopsy has been completed but the cause of death remains under investigation. Foul play is not suspected.
