CP Holiday Train Pulls Into London

Traffic in the downtown will come to a halt for an hour Tuesday as the CP Holiday Train makes its annual stop in London.

The 14 car train, decked out with hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights will stop on the tracks on Richmond St. near Piccadilly St. at 8:15pm. Canadian county artists Kelly Prescott and Doc Walker will perform from one of the train cars.

This is the 18th year, two CP Holiday Trains have set out on a coast-to-coast journey visiting 150 communities to collect cash and non-perishable food donations for local food banks. Since 1999, the holiday voyage has raised more than $12-million and 3.9-million pounds of food.

All donations made during the London stop will go to the London Food Bank.

The two trains began their trek in Montreal November 25. The US holiday train travels through Hamilton, Cambridge, London, and Windsor before entering into the United States. It returns to Canada December 15 for its final shows in Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, the all-Canadian train travels across the west, ending in British Columbia.

The Holiday Train will make a half an hour stop in Woodstock prior to arriving in London.
