Snow Squalls Expected Friday

Londoners could head into the weekend with a fresh blanketing of snow.

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for London-Middlesex, Oxford-Brant, and Huron-Perth.

The national weather agency forecasts snow squalls to develop off Lake Huron toward the London and Woodstock areas Thursday night and intensify Friday. The squalls could dump up to 19cm of snow across the region.

Blowing snow could also be an issue with winds expected to gust to 50km/h beginning Thursday night and continuing throughout the day Friday.

Visibility on the roads may be reduced at times by heavy, blowing snow. Roads, walkways, and parking lots my also become difficult to navigate due to snow accumulation. Motorists are being advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly.

Snow squalls are expected to weaken to a few scattered flurries by Friday night.
