Lightning Strikes Express on New Year's Day 129-105

Julian Boyd led all scorers with 26 points as the London Lightning rung in 2017 with a 129-105 win over the Windsor Express Sunday at Budweiser Gardens.

The win gives the Lightning a 2-1 record on the young season, while the Express fall to 1-2.

London was in control of the game for the entire first half, building up a lead that was significant by halftime.  The Lightning had a 64-37 lead over Windsor at the intermission.

Boyd had three rebounds for London and was four-for-five on the free throw line.  Ryan Anderson added 22 points and four boards for London.

Wally Ellenson was the big scorer for Windsor, with 22 points scored over 23 minutes played.  He also threw in seven rebounds, five of them defensive.  Maurice Jones had 19 points, while Jernard Jarreau lead both teams with eight rebounds.

The Lightning hit the road to take on the Orangeville A's Wednesday night.  The Express continue their road trip on the long weekend Monday afternoon, at Niagara.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
