On a mild weekend that will have golf enthusiasts wishing they were on the greens, the Western Fair District is offering the next best thing.
The London Golf Show and Sale is back at the Progress Building Saturday and Sunday.
"It signals that golf season is just around the corner and by this weekend's weather forecast it is going to really feel like it," said Kris Dinel, chief business development officer at the Western Fair District. "It's a great time to come out and get reacquainted with some of southwestern Ontario's golf courses and also see some of the courses from Michigan. If you're looking for a great deal or a new club, this would be the place to come."
More than 50 vendors will be on-site showing off the latest in golf equipment and apparel. Those in attendance can compete in the Golf Challenge, which sees people putt and chip on a simulator for prizes.
"You can try out some new clubs, you can hit some balls, and there are also some educational components," said Dinel. "Bob Martin, owner of Bob’s Range and PGA of America Golf Professional Derek Highley will be here giving lessons and tips."
Sandra Post, the first Canadian in the LPGA, will be on hand for a presentation at 1pm on Saturday. For the kids there is a Family Zone, where children can learn tips and techniques from young golfers from London Junior Golf.
The first 500 people to come through the doors of the show each day of its two-day run will get a free bucket of golf balls, while the first 100 will be entered into an early bird draw for prizes from Bob’s Range, Pizza Pizza, Extreme Indoor Golf, and St. Mary’s Golf & Country Club.
