Woodstock Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver

A Kincardine-area man was arrested Sunday after traveling the wrong way on an off ramp.

Police in Woodstock say an officer noticed a Ford Explorer running a red light on southbound Norwich Ave, then watched as the vehicle turned eastbound onto the westbound Hwy 401 off ramp at Norwich.  With the vehicle traveling the wrong way and about to get on the highway, the officer followed the driver and activated his lights and siren.

The driver, a 45-year-old man, pulled over right away and was arrested for impaired driving.  He was taken to a police station where breath tests showed him over twice the legal limit for drunk driving.

The suspect had his teenage son in the vehicle with him at the time of the incident, police say.
