UPDATE: London Woman Dead Following Fire

A woman pulled from a burning apartment Saturday night in north London has died, police say.

The 77-year-old woman, who has not been identified pending notification of next-of-kin, was found by London firefighters in her fourth-floor unit at an apartment building located at 744 Fanshawe Park Rd.  She was taken to hospital and listed in critical condition Saturday night, but police said Sunday morning that she had passed away.

Firefighters were able to contain that fire to the single unit, and there were no other reports of injuries.  Damage is estimated at $20,000.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office is working with London police and fire officials to determine the cause of the fire, though police say it did not appear to be suspicious.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
