Multiple Officers Needed To Stop Tractor Trailer On Hwy. 401

Multiple officers were needed to stop a weaving tractor trailer on Hwy. 401 following a police chase between Dutton and London.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Tuesday around 12:35pm, officers were called after a tractor trailer was seen weaving all over the eastbound lanes of the highway near Dutton.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued on towards London.  Officers from the Middlesex and Elgin County OPP detachments were able to set up a "moving containment" and bring the tractor trailer to a stop just after the Colonel Talbot Rd. exit in London. No vehicles were damaged during the stop.

On ramps were closed in the area and the highway was also briefly closed while officers arrested the driver.

A male tractor trailer driver is now charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Police say an investigation is ongoing and further charges may be laid.
