Southwestern Ontario enjoyed a welcome change from the cooler weather on Friday with warm temperatures breaking records across the region.
"There was a low pressure area over the southwestern U.S. and a warm front associated with that pushed into Southwestern Ontario [Friday], and put Windsor, London, Sarnia and all the way east into Niagara, into the warm air," says Environment Canada meteorologist David Rodgers.
According to Environment Canada, Windsor's temperature climbed to 23.1 C on Friday to break the previous record of 20 C, set on the same day in 1964.
The temperature at London International Airport on Friday reached 19.8 C, which breaks the record of 18.3 C set in 1964.
And Sarnia also recorded a record high temperature of 21.1 C, which breaks the previous record of 19.4 C, which was set in 1987.
Rodgers says it's not that unusual for the temperature to get up into the high teens at the end of March, however, he says the record breaking weather isn't expected to continue into the weekend.
"The warm front is going to slump south out of the area, so we're looking at fairly mild temperatures for the weekend, but not quite high teens," he says. "We're looking at highs around 13 C for Saturday and Sunday."
