Texting Driver Almost Hits School Bus

Provincial police are again warning of the dangers of distracted driving after a texting driver almost hit a school bus full of children.

Norfolk OPP say it happened last Friday just after 2pm on La Salette Rd. east of Tillsonburg. A bus driver reported to police that a Ford pickup truck almost collided with the bus. Witnesses say the pickup driver was using his cellphone at the time of the incident.

"Police are reminding all motor vehicle operators to put away the technology and focus all of their attention on the roadway when getting behind the wheel," said Norfolk OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk "Texting or talking on your cell phone jeopardizes everyone's safety. That phone call or text message can wait."

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
