Police Identify Drivers Involved In Fatal Crash

Elgin OPP have released the identities of the drivers who died in head-on crash near the St. Thomas Airport.

Police say 17-year-old Samuel Chabot from Malahide Township and 62-year-old Branko Cindric from Central Elgin both died after the pick-up trucks they were driving hit each other head-on on Hwy. 3 at around 3pm Wednesday afternoon.

OPP shut down Talbot Line (Hwy. 3) between Quaker Rd. and Belmont Rd. for several hours after the crash while Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
