UPDATE: One Dead in Richmond St Crash

A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of one driver.

Middlesex OPP say the collision happened on Richmond St. just before noon on Saturday.

Police say a black Dodge minivan going north on Richmond near Eight Mile Rd. hit the back of a white van Ford cube van, which was also travelling northbound.

The 54-year-old driver and lone occupant of the black van had to be extricated from the vehicle.  He was rushed to a local hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later. He has been identified as Thomas Dinney, from South Huron.

The two people in the white van were not hurt.

The OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team assisted with work at the scene.  Richmond between Eight Mile and Nine Mile Rds were closed until 7:30pm Saturday night.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
