Sugar Kings Win Game 1 Of Sutherland Cup Final

Elmira's power play unit was effective in the Sugar Kings 3-2 victory over London in Game 1 of the Sutherland Cup Final.

Less than a minute after London scored the first goal of the game, Jeff Jordan and Jake Brown set up Ethan Skinner on the power play to tie the game at 1-1.

At 15:58 of the second, Brown and Mitch Hoelscher set up Jordan on the power play to give the Sugar Kings the lead. Ty Biles scored 29 seconds later and that would stand as the game winner.

Austin Kemp put the Nationals within a goal midway through the third but London failed the score the equalizer.

Jonathan Reinhart stopped 38 shots in the win. Cameron Zanussi made 21 saves in the loss for London.

The Sugar Kings were 2-5 with the man advantage.

Game 2 is Saturday at 7:30pm in London at the Western Fair Community Centre.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
