Nationals Shut Out in Sutherland Cup Game 2 2-0

The London Nationals stumbled once more, losing 2-0 to the Elmira Sugar Kings Saturday night at the Western Fair Centre.

This puts the Nationals in a 2-0 hole in the best-of-seven Sutherland Cup Finals.  Game 3 is set for Sunday night at Elmira.

Jonathan Reinhart picked up the shutout for Elmira by stopping all 49 of London shots.  Cameron Zanussi took the loss between the pipes, with 22 saves out of 24 attempts.

Jacob Black put the Sugar Kings on the board first at 16:12 in the first period for that frame's only score.  Tyler McBay and Brock Phillips had the assists.

Elmira doubled its lead late in the second period on a shorthanded goal from Andrew McIntyre.  Jake Brown had the assist.  There was no scoring in the third period, though London did have an unsuccessful power play chance in the closing frame.   The Nationals had seven power play chances in all during the contest but failed to score on any of them.

Puck drop for Game 3 is 7pm Sunday at the Dan Snyder rink at Woolwich Memorial Centre.
