Possible Attempted Luring Just 'Mistaken Identity'

London police say an incident that saw a man in a van approach a young girl was a case of mistaken identity.

On Thursday morning around 8:45am, police say the girl was walking the area of Stoneybrook Cr. and Hastings Gate when she was approached by a man driving a white van. The man told the girl that her mother said she should go with him.

The girl did not get into the van and the man drove away. A witness reported the incident to police.

Police were able to identify the driver and speak with him. The matter was "determined to be a case of mistaken identity on behalf of the driver," according to a release from London police.

Police say there are no concerns for public safety.
