Kicking Off Police Week

The London Police Service is getting ready to kick off events for Police Week 2017.

The annual event is celebrated throughout the province from May 14 - May 20.

"Police Week in Ontario is an annual event dedicated to promoting crime prevention, recognition and awareness of police services in the community," said London police in a media release. "It’s also an opportunity to commend current police officers for their dedication and commitment in keeping our communities safe."

The theme for this year's Police Week is "Working Together for Safer Communities."

To celebrate, police will engage with the community by hosting several events, some of which include community safety displays.

One of the displays will be held on May 16, at Westmount Mall from 11am - 2pm; the other display will be on May 19, at the Cherry Hill Mall from 11am - 2 pm.

Officers will also be visiting schools and the YMCA Children’s Safety Village to give kids safety lessons.

A full list of events the London Police Service is hosting can be found by clicking here.

Police are asking people to join in on the conversation during Police Week through social media, using the hashtag #PoliceWeekON.
