UPDATE: Fatal Crash North Of London

One person is dead following a serious crash north of London.

Middlesex OPP say an eastbound SUV was turning left from Elginfield Rd. onto Denfield Rd. when it was hit by a mobile crane around 7:40am on Wednesday. The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Kathryn Kane of North Middlesex, was killed in the crash. The crane operator was not hurt.

OPP technical collision investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the crash.

"Another bad start to our day today and we don't want this to happen to anyone else," said Sergeant Dave Rektor, in a Periscope video from the crash site. "Please remember the top four causes of injury or death on our highways remain distracted driving, impaired driving, aggressive driving, and failure to wear seat belts. Take care of those four things and everything else will take care of itself."

Elginfield Rd. between Vanneck Rd. and Coursey Line, and Denfield Rd. between 16 Mile and Airport Dr. were closed for several hours, but have since re-opened.
