London Names New City Treasurer

Another longtime city employee has been tapped to take on a top job at City Hall.

Anna Lisa Barbon will take over as the new city treasurer and chief financial officer for London, effective next Monday.

Council appointed Barbon to the position on Tuesday.

The role was previously held by Martin Hayward, who was permanently promoted to the position of city manager in April.

Barbon, a chartered professional accountant since 2002, has been with the city for more than 20 years, most recently serving as the director of financial services. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Chartered Accountancy and a Masters of Accounting from the University of Waterloo.

Councillor Jesse Helmer offered his praise for Barbon, following her appointment.

"I think we have an unbelievably strong team in finance," said Helmer. "I really look forward to working with Anna Lisa in her new role. I think she will do really well for the city of London, for the taxpayers. I expect her to tell us no when she needs to tell us no and to be honest all the time when we are talking about finances."
