Man Busted Stealing From Police Vehicles

Stealing from vehicles is never a good idea, but stealing from vehicles parked in a police parking lot is an even worse one.

Woodstock police say a man was arrested after officers allegedly watched him on surveillance video going through vehicles parked in the police station staff lot just off of Dundas St., at around 1:30am on Wednesday.

The man wandered into the parking lot after trying to get into the police station through the staff entrance. He was told he would have to use the front entrance after he asked to speak with an officer. But the man did not go to the front door. Instead, he allegedly went through several vehicles before trying to walk away from officers, according to police.

Police say the man was known to officers.

A 41-year-old man is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with probation.
