UPDATE: Motorcycle Passenger Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

Two motorcycle riders are injured following a collision on Hwy.401 near Dorchester.

On Saturday at approximately 10:30am, OPP reported that a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Hwy.401 between Dorchester Rd. and Elgin Rd. when it suddenly suffered a mechanical failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash.

The motorcycle was occupied by two riders. Both people were transported to hospital by land ambulance. According to police, the driver has suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the passenger has suffered life-threatening injuries.

Eastbound lanes were closed from approximately 10:30am to 2pm. The lanes have since been reopened.

Police say no other vehicles were involved.
