Cocaine, Fentanyl, Seized In $1M Drug Bust

Provincial police seized a combined $1-million worth of cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone, and other drugs in a massive drug bust at a southwest Middlesex farm.

Officers searched the property near Strathroy on Sunday turning up cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl patches, morphine tablets, hydromophone tablets, oxycodone tablets, and cannabis. The exact quantities of the drugs found have not been released.

More than $84,000 in cash was also seized during the raid.

The drugs and cash are valued at an estimated $1.1-million. It is one of the largest drug bust in Middlesex County since the take down of three drug trafficking rings in southwestern Ontario in 2014.

Floriano Daponte, 62, was arrested at the scene. He is now charged with several counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a firearm, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Daponte was scheduled to appear in London court for a bail hearing on Monday. It was put over until Tuesday.
