Suspicious Fire Under Investigation

An investigation in underway into a suspicious house fire that sent a 14-year-old boy to hospital.

The blaze at a home on Lower Chippewa Rd. on the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation was reported just after 3pm Saturday.

Crews from the Chippewas Fire Department, Oneida National Paramedic Services, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service, and Middlesex OPP responded to the scene to find athe house fully engulfed by flames. The fire was put out by the Chippewas Fire Department.

The teenage boy was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor smoke inhalation.

The Middlesex OPP Crime Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal are looking for the cause of the fire, although it is said to be suspicious in nature.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
